How Sæga works

Two minutes on what happens when you talk to Sæga, and why the sound never leaves your Mac.

With English captions. The mark follows the narrator while the film plays.

What the film says

Where does the sound go when you talk to Sæga? Nowhere. Everything happens on your Mac.

Dictation 0:08

Press the key and talk. Your words appear in the notch as you speak, and the text is pasted where you're typing.

Speech models 0:16

Behind it are speech models that specialize in Swedish: Pianissimo and KB-Whisper. Norwegian has NB-Whisper, and English, German and eight more languages have Parakeet Ultra. The models download once, and then they live on your Mac. Your Mac's own chip does the work, in a fraction of a second.

Offline 0:38

That's why Sæga works without a connection. Turn off Wi-Fi, and the words still come.

Dictionary 0:44

With your dictionary, Sæga learns the names and words you use. Your history and notes are encrypted, on your Mac.

Meetings 0:53

Meetings work the same way. Sæga hears your microphone and your Mac's sound separately, so you and the others are kept apart. No bot in the call. Name a voice, and Sæga recognizes it in the next meeting. The voiceprint is saved only on your Mac.

Translation 1:11

If the meeting is in Norwegian, you can follow it in Swedish or English. The translation happens on your Mac too.

The cloud 1:18

If you want help writing, an email or notes from the meeting, the text is sent out, to an AI in the cloud. Only the text, never the sound, and only when you ask. Local Mode turns that off too.

The sound never leaves your Mac. You speak, and Sæga writes. Your meetings too.
