Transcripts as files

Guide · Local AI

Your meetings in a local AI

With Ollama the model runs on your Mac. The files and the questions never leave the computer.

Tried in Terminal on 7 November 2026 with the model qwen3:4b.

In Sæga

  1. Settings → Recording → Meetings → Keep every transcript as a file. Turn it on and choose a folder. The picker opens in a folder your cloud already syncs, if you have one.
  2. Projects become folders. A meeting in a project goes in the project's folder, the rest in Inbox. When a meeting changes project its file moves too, as long as you haven't edited it.
  3. Name and project while the meeting runs. Click the name in the meeting panel to type a new one, and pick the project in the menu below it.

File transcripts (audio and video files you transcribe) go in the same folder. Only want one project's meetings: Edit Project → Keep a Markdown copy of each meeting in a folder.

To Ollama

  1. Install Ollama from ollama.com.
  2. Pull a model in Terminal: ollama pull qwen3:4b
  3. Send the files and your question to the model. This is what we ran:
(cat ~/Sæga/Inbox/*.md; echo "What did I promise in the meeting?") | ollama run qwen3:4b

Replace ~/Sæga/Inbox with the folder you chose in Sæga. What comes after echo is your question.

We have not tried Ollama's own app window.

What happens to your data

Nothing leaves your Mac: Sæga writes the files, and Ollama reads them and answers on the computer. Choose a folder that isn't synced if you want it to stay that way. The files are not encrypted like Sæga's own transcripts, and the audio never goes with them.

When you delete a meeting in Sæga, it asks whether the file should go too. A file you have edited always stays.

Common questions

Does anything leave the computer?

No. The model and the files are on your Mac, and the question runs there.

Which model should I choose?

We tried qwen3:4b, which is small enough for an ordinary Mac. We haven't compared other models.
