Transcripts as files
Your transcripts, in the AI you trust
Sæga can save every meeting and every transcribed file as a plain text file in a folder you choose. If the folder is in OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud Drive or an Obsidian vault, your own sync takes the files on, and you can ask Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude or a local model about your meetings. Sæga never uploads anything itself.
From Sæga 1.5.0. Transcribing happens on your Mac and is free.
In Sæga
- Settings → Recording → Meetings → Keep every transcript as a file. Turn it on and choose a folder. The picker opens in a folder your cloud already syncs, if you have one.
- Projects become folders. A meeting in a project goes in the project's folder, the rest in
Inbox. When a meeting changes project its file moves too, as long as you haven't edited it. - Name and project while the meeting runs. Click the name in the meeting panel to type a new one, and pick the project in the menu below it.
File transcripts (audio and video files you transcribe) go in the same folder. Only want one project's meetings: Edit Project → Keep a Markdown copy of each meeting in a folder.
Pick your setup
- Microsoft 365 CopilotOneDrive or SharePoint, and Copilot matches the meeting to your Outlook calendar.
- Google GeminiGoogle Drive and Gemini Notebook, questions across all your meetings.
- ChatGPTAttach the files in a chat or a project.
- ClaudeUpload the files in a chat or a project.
- ObsidianPut the folder in your vault: search, link and see the meeting's properties.
- Local AIOllama on your Mac. Nothing leaves the computer.
The file format
Each file is Markdown with a header of fields at the top (front matter), which AI services and note apps can read. The fields don't change unless the version number does.
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
title | The name of the meeting. |
start | When the meeting began, with a time zone, for example 2026-11-06T10:00:00+01:00. This is what an AI matches against your calendar. |
date, duration | The date and time without a time zone, and the length. |
projects | The projects the meeting is in. |
speakers | Who spoke: you, the others or the names you gave them. |
attendees | The invited people, when the name came from the calendar. |
id | A fixed id, so the file is recognised even if the name changes. |
language, source, format | The language, whether it was a meeting or a file, and the version of the format. |
Below the fields come the notes, if you asked for them, and then the text with time and speaker for each paragraph.
What happens to your data
Sæga writes the files on your Mac and never uploads anything. Your own sync, for example OneDrive or Google Drive, takes them on, and from there that service's terms apply. The files are not encrypted like Sæga's own transcripts, so anyone who can open the folder can read them. The audio never goes with them.
When you delete a meeting in Sæga, it asks whether the file should go too. A file you have edited always stays.
Common questions
Does Sæga upload my meetings to Copilot or ChatGPT?
No. Sæga writes the files in a folder on your Mac. If the folder is in a cloud service, that service syncs them, and you choose which AI may read them.
Does it cost anything?
No. Transcribing meetings and saving them as files is free. What you do in Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT or Claude follows those services' own terms and prices.
Does the audio go with them?
No. Only the text. The audio stays on your Mac.
What if I edit a file?
Sæga never overwrites it. If the meeting changes in Sæga afterwards, the new version lands next to it, with (Sæga) in the name.
