A free Granola alternative for personal use

Granola and Sæga both record a meeting without a bot in the call. Granola writes AI notes, with apps on many devices and folders you can share. Sæga is a Mac app for one person: it transcribes on your Mac, for free, and keeps your meetings there.

Short answer. Pick Sæga if you want your own meetings in text on your Mac, free and with no history window. Pick Granola if you want notes on your phone and watch too, or a team that shares folders and works in Slack.

What Granola's free plan gives you

Granola Basic is free. It includes AI meeting notes, bot-free capture from your device's audio, speaker tagging, note templates, shared folders and a Slack integration, with apps for desktop, iOS, Android and Apple Watch. Meeting history is limited to 30 days. Granola Business costs $14 per user a month and adds unlimited history, follow-up emails and integrations such as Notion, Zapier and HubSpot.

Where Granola is the better choice

Where Sæga is the better choice

Is Sæga open source?

No. If open source is a must, Sæga is not the answer, and there are open-source meeting recorders worth a look. What Sæga offers instead is a signed and notarized Mac app where recording and transcription run on your Mac, for free.

Questions

Is Sæga a free Granola alternative?
